The Bellevue Church of Christ believes that the Church is a global entity. While each assembly is autonomous, the Church that Jesus died for is a world-wide organization.
Therefore, the Bellevue congregation supports missions in other parts of the world. Specifically, those that teach the doctrines of Christ as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. We do not believe the missions we support are the only ones worthy of support, it is just we are a small assembly and our resources are limited.
- One mission we provide some support to is the Church in Ghana West Africa. The missionary there is Jeff Hostetter. He has established multiple assemblies through teaching others the gospel in various cities. These individuals have also taken on the mission that Jesus left for the church to accomplish and are teaching others also. He has also established Christian Schools to provide an education to the young people in both secular and religious issues.
- We also provide some support to the Church in Cochin, India. The missionary there is Binoy Thomas. He and his family have started a church and Benoit is making good progress in teaching the teachers. That is, he is training local people to teach others also.
- We also provide support to DirectConnect Humanitarian Aid. This is a non-profit organization to meet the needs of widows, orphans, elderly and the handicapped in places such as Belarus, Vietnam, Kosovo, and Myanmar. This local organization helps meet some of the physical needs of distressed individuals in these countries with the goal of sharing the Gospel with them
As time goes on and our resources increase, then our support of missions will increase. We know that Jesus did not draw us together as His Church to huddle together and comfort one another with kind words and fair speeches. We have been called to engage in Spiritual warfare and it is a global warfare. Anywhere we can go and share the Gospel is where we need to go.
